Lisa Cloherty

Lisa Cloherty is an author of children's books and a pediatric speech-language pathologist. Her debut picture book, Katie Spector the Art Collector was released in 2021 and was followed by Terrance the Hothead: A book to help manage big feelings (2022) by The American Speech Language Hearing Association Press (ASHA Press). Most of Lisa's stories revolve around community, family and self-acceptance.

Lisa attended the University of Maryland and later pursued her Masters of Science at Northeastern University.  She has worked as a pediatric speech-language pathologist for over a decade.  She loves watching her students learn, grow and build their confidence.

Lisa recently set up a free little library for her neighborhood. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and two elementary aged children.  In the summer months you can find her kayaking down the river or catching hermit crabs at the beach.

Praise for Terrance the Hothead:

“Cloherty adapts real-world techniques that encourage balanced emotional responses to a pun-filled story…This engaging tale may help young readers grappling with big feelings keep their cool.” – Kirkus Review
